Porsche sued by driver’s widow over Paul Walker crash

The widow of the man who was driving a car in which Paul Walker died is suing Porsche over the crash.paulwalker

Kristine M Rodas claims it was the company’s fault the vehicle crashed and blames design flaws for the deaths of her husband and the Hollywood actor.

She says Roger W Rodas was driving at 55mph (88.5km/h), not the unsafe speeds crash investigators claim.

Mr Rodas was driving a 2005 Porshe Carrera GT which can reach speeds of more than 200mph (320km/h).

His wife’s wrongful death lawsuit claims the vehicle did not have a proper crash cage and safety features in the petrol tank that would have saved both men’s lives.

After the crash, which happened on 30 November, fire destroyed the car.

The lawsuit also claims that a failure in the car’s suspension system caused it to go out of control and hit trees while driving down a road in Santa Clarita, California.

“The Carrera GT was unsafe for its intended use by reason of defects in its manufacture, design, testing, component and constituents, so that it would not safely serve its purpose,” it said.

Ms Rodas’ lawyer, Mark Geragos, said he had hired the top experts in the US to look at the wrecked car, who gave an impartial evaluation of the accident.

Porsche helped with the official investigation, with engineers looking at the wreckage of the car.

The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages from Porsche Cars North America.

According to legal documents, Roger Rodas was trained as a racing car driver and had two young children.

Walker’s brothers are filling in to complete scenes in the latest instalment in the Fast & Furious franchise.

According to the film’s Facebook page, Caleb and Cody Walker will help finish “small gaps” in Fast & Furious 7.

Production on the film was stopped after Walker’s death but started again in March.

The film’s release has been delayed until April 2015.
