The youth of Abease in Prang have vowed to fight attempts to use the River Pru in the area for illegal mining.
The youth tell rawgist.com the action would happen over their dead bodies.
The machete wielding youth said the river is their main source of drinking water therefore they cannot sit and watch some people destroy it for monetary gain.
They allege one Okyeame Bori of Abease is the man behind the idea adding that the said Okyeame has collected a huge amount from the Galamseyers with the intention of given them the go ahead.
The Paramount Chief of Prang, Nana Kojo Nyarko II said the action of Okyeame Bori is a bad one that must be condemned in all forms. Nana condemned the action and promised not to sit down for such an action to be taken under his leadership as the Paramount Chief of the Area. He assured the citizenry that nothing of that sort would go on and asked them to remain calm.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, Mr. Opoku Emmanuel told rawgist.com that the District Security Council (DISEC) has taken the matter up and is already acting very swiftly to save the situation.
The DCE revealed to rawgist.com that Okyeame Bori and the galamsay operators have been invited by the Police for questioning.
Wow this is great to see people standing up for their rights and also to see the Police getting involved in not only protecting people’s rights but also taking an active role in pollution prevention.
But where is the EPA in all? Let me guess; the same place they were when I complained about pollution ……sitting in their office on their bottoms and telling my wife and I lies.
