Ghanaian fullback Daniel Opare has opened his goal scoring account with Royal Antwerp against Greek side PAOK Saloniki four days after signing a two-year deal.
Opare joined Antwerp after his contract with Bundesliga outfit FC Augsburg was terminated due to behavioural misconduct.
The 27-year-old who operated from the left side of defence received a diagonal pass from midfield on the 16th minute and struck it beautifully from 25yards to open the scoring.
Saloniki equalised through Lamprou on the half hour mark but Antwerp’s lead was quickly restored by DR Congo forward Jonathan Bolingi 14 minutes later.
Back from recess, Opare’s countryman William Owusu added his name on the score sheet to make it 3-1.
Opare was substituted on the 70th minute while William made way for Zotsara on the 89th minute.
Their next game is against Charleroi in the Belgian Pro league on July 29.
