A 24-year-old pregnant woman and her two-year-old son have reportedly drowned in a river in a town called Nyamkaman at Enchi in the Western region.
The pair, Elizabeth Mantey and Cosmos Ackah were returning from the farm when the unfortunate incident occurred, according to report.
According to Tricky FM’s Kwabena Buju, the eight months old pregnant woman after fetching firewood decided to swim ashore to meet her husband at the river bank.
“Her husband, Stephen Ackah told his wife to wait for him in their cocoa farm but did not heed to her husband’s instruction,” Kwabena Buju added.
Meanwhile, the Enchi District Police Command has confirmed the sad news to Adom FM.
ASP Anim Ofori who spoke to Adom News said the bodies of the two have been deposited at the Enchi Government Hospital for autopsy.
He added that the police have also commenced investigations into the matter.
