
Dr. Johnson Asiamah has been nominated to become Governor of Ghana’s Central Bank
President John Dramani Mahama has nominated Dr. Johnson Asiamah to serve as the Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), pending approval by the Council of State.
This announcement was made after the current Governor, Dr Ernest Addison, requested to proceed on leave ahead of his retirement, scheduled for March 31, 2025.
Dr. Asiamah, who has previously served as Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, brings a wealth of experience to the role.
He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Acting Spokesperson to the President in the January 31 nomination letter, lauded Dr. Asiamah and highlighted his proven track record in the banking and financial sector.
