Press statement: Yamfo College of Health allegedly defies court order

IMMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE Date: Wednesday, September 11, 2019.

COLLEGE OF HEALTH (YAMFO) TO DEFY HIGH COURT ORDER

The College of Health (Yamfo) is a ministry of health training school which was established in 2015. Currently as we speak, an injunction from the Sunyani High Court of Justice has been placed on the school to temporary halt all academic activities including the writing of end of semester examination. This was on reason that the College does not have Institutional and Program Accreditation for all Four Degree Programs students are enrolled in since the past 4 years.

  1. Information reaching the public is that the first court hearing scheduled for Thursday, September 5, 2019 could not come off because court was on vacation and that the case was adjourned to Tuesday, October 15, 2019.

  2. Due to the prevailing court injunction and adjourned case, management decided to officially closed down the school indefinitely on Friday, September 6, 2019 and students in the school’s hostels were asked to leave before 18:00 GMT. Even though this was the information, some section of students are currently in Yamfo, and have been spotted to be studying in the classrooms.

  3. As though that was just a rumor, just this afternoon, one of the Final Year Allied Health students confirmed to us that the school management, in consultation with the Ministry of Health have decided to move all Final Year Allied Health Students (a section of students) to the College of Health – Kintampo to write the end of semester examination so that those students can go and do their National Service, a decision to defy the Court Order.

  4. Also to mention, the source stated that all students owing school fees have been asked to pay before Friday else they will not be allowed to write the end of semester examination which starts on Friday and ends on Sunday.

  5. Parents of the rest of the students who are already agitated, upon hearing this have decided to move in their numbers to the College of Health Administration over the weekend and that they will be fully ‘ready for actions’ and not words any more.

  6. There is the sense of an unexpected riots and the outcome may not be pleasing to the nation. We advise all relevant stakeholders accordingly!
