To mark 10 years of spectacular successes in stage play and musicals, students of Ghana International School on Friday turned the National Theatre into ancient/biblical Egypt and retold the story of “Prince of Egypt” in the most captivating way last night.
Taken from the book of Exodus in the Bible, the “Prince of Egypt,” the tale of two brothers beginning together and ending apart, was first told in 1998 by America’s DreamWorks Pictures in an epic animated musical drama. Themed wit’s the hashtag #ForUSbyUS, the screenplay was written by the renowned author and Principal of GIS Dr Mary Ashun, with additional musical composition by GIS students; Jojo Ashun, Justin, Nana, Megan and the music department of the school.
Starting last night, Friday 18th March and Saturday 19th March, 6:30pm each night, the Prince of Egypt was brought to life by students of GIS in the presence of the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Nana Akufo-Addo, dignitaries, the Principal, Dr Mary Ashun, parents and teachers and the general public.
Treasure Kids Newspaper was there to cover the event and sponsor patrons with free copies of the newspaper. We thank everyone for making it the most spectacular night in the history of musicals the world over. Congratulations to all the actors, scriptwriters, instrumentalists, costume designers, set and stage designers, props, makeup and everyone who came to witness the show!
