The management of the Ghana Water Company, (GWCL) Electricity Company of Ghana, (ECG) and the Pubic Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) have dismissed allegations that they cheat their customers.
Speaking on “Krokrokoo” on Peace FM on Thursday, the spokesperson for PURC, Nana Yaa Jantuah said they are working to refund monies to customers resulting from problems with prepaid meters. She added that they are also considering the use of flat rate system to help address the problem.
The Public Relations Officer of ECG, William Boateng stated that there will not be extra cost for those who have meters but do not have bills to regulate it. He therefore urged all users to report the cases to the Electricity Company of Ghana.
On his part, the Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Water Company, Stanley Martey noted that some of the problems association with water supply in Ghana can be attributed to the works of galamsey operators. He entreated those who engage such practices to stop.
He added that, those on estimated billing and are not comfortable with it should contact their office to change it to pay the exact amount.
