Member of Parliament for Oforikrom, Elizbeth Agyeman has urged residents of Kumasi to support the redevelopment of the Kumasi Central market area.
The MP who was speaking on Kumasi based Fox FM said the project is a laudable one that will inure to the benefit of residents of Kumasi.
To this end, “we (the NPP MPs)are working closely with the KMA to ensure the success of the project”, she revealed.
“This money is meant for the development of Kumasi and we cannot sit down and watch it go else where. The traders should trust that the right thing is being done”, she said.
Ashanti NPP secretary, Sam Payne who also spoke on the Fox morning show noted the project is a laudable one but expressed misgivings about some assertions supposedly made by the Kumasi mayor that the money for the project is in the accounts of the KMA. “It is a lie”, he said.
Meanwhile traders at the market have demonstrated against the project in fear of losing their livelihoods.
