The assemblyman for Ahensan Estate electoral area in the Asokwa Municipality Nana Yaw Wiredu, wants community police personnel to be recruited into the police service after serving their two-year contract term.
He therefore wants the interior ministry to stop the usual way of recruiting new person into the system, instead of tapping into the expertise of the community police personnel who have had hands-on experience.
According to him, that would enhance the efficiency in the police service.
Speaking on Oyerepa FM Breakfast on Friday 17th January 2020, the assemblyman insisted that would sanitize the system and do away with the bottlenecks in the recruitment process.
In recent times, prospective applicants have had to struggle for recruitment card and go through tedious payment process prior to submission.
He has observed that these personnel are not found in our communities, they are all stationed at the various police stations, but, are not being recruited into the police service, rather, a new crop of personnel are offered the opportunity of leaving them behind.
Meanwhile, they have acquired all the requisite skills and knowledge in policing. He says leaving these personnel unemployed is a threat to the country.
He is, therefore, appealing to the Interior ministry to consider, these community police personnel and scrap off the old-fashion way of recruiting into the police service.
