The Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr John Alexander Ackon has donated hospital equipment and drugs worth about GHC 50,000.00 to two hospitals in the Obuasi Municipality.
The two hospitals that benefited from the largesse were the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) and the Obuasi Government hospitals.
At two brief ceremonies at the hospitals, Mr Ackon mentioned his desire to use the influence he has to get assistance for hospitals and clinics to receive enough stock for health delivery.
The visit by the Minister to these two heath facilities formed part of his much publicised home coming tour of the Obuasi Municipality where he formerly worked as the Municipal Chief Executive.
ADMONITION:
Addressing the medical staff as well as scores of people who had thronged the precincts of the hospitals to witness the donation exercise, the Regional Minster noted the health of the people was a priority to government.
Mr Ackon assured the people of government’s commitment to resourcing and retooling all government facilities to ensure they administer proper medical care.
He mentioned the donation was his widows mite to a community which gave birth to him and shaped him to become a responsible citizen.
Mr Ackon commended the doctors and staff of both hospitals for their commitment to duty.
He, however urged them to use the equipment and drugs properly to administer care to patients and visitors who frequented the facilities.
RESPONSE:
Dr David Akwasi Amankwah, Municipal Health Director on behalf of the hospitals thanked the Minster for the donation.
He mentioned the items and equipment would go along way to helping the hospitals dispense better care to patients and visitors at the hospital.
ASSEMBLY MEETING:
Addressing assembly members as well as workers at the district assembly office during a visit, Mr Ackon advised them to eschew partisan politics and work to ensure the common good of residents of the municipality.
He stressed the development of the area was important than any other and urged them to work as one unit to bring the needed infrastructure and human development to the municipality.
He urged the assembly to work to stop some unscrupulous people who were mining close to water bodies in the Adansi communities.
Furthermore, he called for the regularization of all mining and artisanal activities so as to ensure no untoward happening in the town.

Mr Ofori Agyeman Boadi, the Municipal Chief Executive for Obuasi commended the Minister for the visit and donations to the hospitals.
He promise to use his good offices to ensure members of the assembly work together as a unit as they fashion out plans to develop the Obuasi Community and its environs.
