Dr Ernest Opoku, a medical doctor at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in a passionate appeal to residents of Atwima -Kwanwoma has asked that they endorse his candidature as the next Member of Parliament (MP) since he represents hope for the entire community.
Contesting as an Independent Parliamentary Candidate in an NPP stronghold, the experienced medical practitioner believes he carries the magic wand to ensure the total transformation of the ancient Ashanti Community.
Addressing an impressive crowd during the official launch of his campaign to wrestle the seat from the NPP incumbent MP at Kotwi, Dr Opoku stressed the need for the people to repose their confidence in a competent person who could get the needed socio-economic development for the Kwanwoma Town.
According to him, election was about the best person or party who could provide the best alternatives to the ordinary, adding he was the best person for the realization of total development of the Atwima Constituency.
VISION:
Enumerating his lofty ideas for the deprived constituency, Dr Opoku promised to empower the youth in their educational pursuits with scholarship schemes and libraries including mobile ones to aid in research.
Amidst deafening cheers, the medical Doctor promised to dig a bore-hole for each of the towns within the Atwima Kwanwoma constituency to ensure people had access to potable water.
Women empowerment, Dr Opoku intimated was a priority to him and hinted of plans to sensitize and motivate young girls to continue their education after completing Junior High School (JHS).
He promised to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive in the community, insisting he would lobby for more development projects to the area in a quest to reduce unemployment.
CHANGE:
In an exclusive chat later with the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper, Dr Opoku stressed the Atwima community needed a change that would impact living conditions of residents.
He claimed the incumbent Member of Parlaiment had failed to live up to the promises he gave the people and that the time had come for a new person to bring the kind of development the community so much desire.
”My brother the kind of excitement you see amongst the youth is nothing but it is based upon the confidence and the kind of policy alternatives am promising”, Dr Opoku posited.
He continued, ”the youth believe i can do all i have promised and the result is what you see now as they are excited to join me for a positive change in their lives’.
