Sam Pyne Visits BECE Centers In Kumasi…Encourages 9, 274 Candidates To Give Off Their Best.
Hon Samuel Pyne, Mayor for Kumasi earlier today visited some Examination centers in Kumasi to wish candidates taking today’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) well.
The BECE Examinations started today, 8th of July and ends on Friday, 12th of July, 2024.
The Mayor took the opportunity to advise candidates to avoid examination malpractices.
He also urged them to be disciplined throughout the duration of the exam, adding that they should ensure that they write clearly.
“Remain calm and confident as you sit to recall what you’ve learned to memory”, the Mayor advised.

A total of 9,274 BECE candidates in the Kumasi Metropolitan area are joining the rest of the country to sit for the exam from Monday, July 8, to Friday, July 12, 2024.
The Mayor was joined by Mr. Francis Dwira-Darko, Metro Coordinating Director; Mr. David Oppong, Metro Education Director; Mr. Nicholas Bassaw, Metro Education Head of Monitoring and Supervision; and Judith Mensah Pamford, Metro Education Head of Planning Unit during his tour of the exam centers.
Centers Visited:
Examination centers visited by the Mayor of Kumasi and his entourage include State Experimental M/A, Kumasi Senior High Technical School, Opoku Ware Senior High School, and St. Hubert’s Senior High and Seminary School.
Free Senior High School:
While praying for their success, Hon Pyne, in his pep-talk, assured them that the government’s Free SHS Programme is ready to benefit them and help shape their future.
He also urged them to work hard and make the most of this opportunity, as it would pave the way for their future success.
“Write well, pay attention to instructions and directions from your exam supervisors, and I hope you will pass well to take advantage of President Nana Akufo-Addo’s Free SHS Policy after this exam”, the Mayor noted.
The Mayor reminded the candidates that the examination marks the beginning of their careers.
“How you perform will determine your future,” Hon. Pyne stated.
Breakdown of Candidates:
Out of the 9, 247 candidats, about 4,789 are girls, while about 4,485 are boys writing the exam in 35 examination centers in the Metropolis.
