General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) is alleging that Samira Bawumia, wife of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) vice presidential candidate was once an executive of the NDC’s student wing.
Johnson Asiedu Nketia alleged that Samira Bawumia was a Women’s Organizer of Tertiary Educational Institutions Network (TEIN) in one of the universities in the country.
He, however, failed to name the said institution when pressed for further details.
Nevertheless, Asiedu Nketiah insisted that both Dr. Bawumia and his wife were active members of the NDC but have lost their birthrights after joining the NPP.
The NDC scribe could not fathom why the former deputy Governor of the Bank and his wife ‘who are dyed-in-the-wool NDC’ will trade a ‘people-centered political party like the NDC’ to join the NPP which ‘believes in a class society.’
“Samira and Bawumia have strong connections to the NDC. Bawumia’s mother was an NDC constituency women organiser, and his elder brother was also appointed an Ambassador to Burkina Faso and another brother of his contested on the ticket of the NDC as the Parliamentary candidate, and Samira’s brother is also contesting at Adentan on NDC ticket,” he stated.
Mr. Asiedu Nketia warned them [Bawumia, Samira] never to think about coming back to the NDC because they have lost their place.
