Security agencies will arrest persons, groups who insult the leadership – IGP

policeThe Security Agencies have served notice that henceforth, they will deal ruthlessly with any individual or groups who insult the leadership of the agencies.

According to the agencies, they are poised to maintain the stability and peace of the country going into the elections and at all times and will not entertain any acts that have the potential of destabilizing the country.

Over 2,o15 personnel drawn from the Police, Armed Forces, Immigration and Customs Division took part in a route march by the security agencies in Accra code-named “Operation Peace Trail” to demonstrate their preparedness to ensure peace before, during and after the general election on December 7.

Adressing the security personnel at the Black Star Square in Accra after the march, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) John Kudalor lauded the efforts of the police in their preparation towards the 2016 election, citing a recent Centre for Demoratic Development (CDD) report as proof.

“The people of Ghana, appreciate our work and worth, especially the preparations that you’re making to ensure and secured the 7th Dember election without any hindrance. This is evidenced in a recent CDD survey which puts security institutions ahead of all others in our readiness to secure the elections.

The IGP however said, though the security agencies are open to constructive critcism, they’ll will be hard on those who spew derogatrory statements on them in a view to run them down.

“The security agencies are poised for action and will not tolerate any threat to the peace of Ghana. Hence force the security agencies will go after any individual or groups whose untterances pose a threat to the security of the country. This applies to those who rain unwarranted insults on the leadership of the security agencies in a bid to run them down, discredit and ridicule personalities through the media. While security agencies welcome constructive criticsms, we cannot tolerate vulgar insults from individuals and groups in the name of politics and freedom of speech.”
