Television and radio personality RSM Kofi Doe Lawson has been speaking to rawgist.com about his inspiration and motivation as far as broadcasting is concerned.
He says he has remained humble and pursued radio and television as a result of a kind gesture shown him by Kwame Sefa Keyi affectionately called Chairman General.
In 2003, 2004 there about young Kofi Doe was informed by a friend that Peace FM needed a sports commentator.
In order to realize his dream of becoming one of the most renowned Journalists in the country, he set out to inquire from La- Bawaleshie, a community in East Legon where he resides to the old premises of Peace FM at Mile 7 on his bicycle one early morning.
Upon arrival, he met a sports journalist whose approach towards him was very hostile which did dampen his spirit.
He had almost given up on his dream of becoming a media personnel and was about leaving the premises when the Chairman General, Kwame Sefa Keyi showed up. Kwame greeted him warmly and asked of his welfare and left with a broad smile. The kind reception offered young Kofi Doe made him feel all relevant again.
Though he did not get the information he needed, he learnt a great lesson from Chairman Sefa Kayi’s humble nature. He then told himself that no matter the level he attains in life and the position he holds, he would always be down to earth.
He went back to school after this encounter to chase his dreams in Journalism.
After graduating from Global Media College in 2005, he relocated to the Brong Ahafo region. There, his journey as a professional journalist began.
Over the years, he has worked with a number of media outlets which include, Classic Fm (Techiman),Nkoso) Radio (Kumasi), Mighty Fm (Asante Mampong) Time Fm (Akumadan Offinso North) Winners Fm (Techiman) and Free Fm Ghana (Techiman).
Currently he works with Accra based Homebase Television as a Co- host of the station’s magazine programme dubbed 3boboba .
