Controversial Ghanaian rapper Kooko has waded into the ongoing controversy between Shatta Wale and his silent target; Wizkid.
The Award-winning Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale said he does not consider Nigerian musician Wizkid as a superstar. He added that he doesn’t see anything extraordinary about Wizkid, and does not understand why people hail him.
“I don’t see Wizkid to be too much for me but most of my Ghanaians and Ghanaian colleagues see him like that. But I want Wizkid to see me and be like wow not otherwise because what is talking is your pocket, property, investment.
“I don’t see anything extraordinary about him, even though he claims to the be best African artiste.
Almost a week into the controversy, Ghanaian rapper Kooko has stumbled in, throwing his weight behind the Ghanaian Dancehall art.
Kooko tells rawgist.com’s Bernard Buachi Ghanaian artistes should not “lay down” for their Nigerian counterparts since they cannot compare favourably with Ghanaian musicians.
“Nigerians don’t have dancehall artistes and no better rappers. They have a lot of good singers though”, he conceded.
He took a swipe at Sarkodie for earlier trying to get Shatta Wale to tone down on his utterances regarding Wizkid.
Kooko hails Sarkodie as the best rapper Ghana has but chastises him for being hypocritical by his posture. He says Sarkodie should learn “a thing or two” from Shatta Wale and speak boldly for themselves and Ghanaian music. “If Sarkodie cannot be bold and speak up, he should keep quiet and leave Shatta alone”, he added.
