Bottom club, Silver, produced a shock result in the Ashanti regional hockey league when they thrashed leaders, Seniors, 3-1 to grab their first three points.
They did not only win the match but dominated and outclassed the league leaders at the Paa Joe Park at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi last Saturday.
Silver were touted to bring much competition to the league on their return after many years of absence but had to wait till three matches to end the season to rediscover their form. But they did so historically against the league leaders, who struggled to play on the undulating pitch.
Emmanuel Brobbey scored a brace in the fourth and 25th minutes, while Dickson Atorqui netted in the eighth for Silver before Peter Obeng reduced the tally on the 47th minute.
Seniors accelerated in the last 10 minutes of the 70 minutes of play but were denied by the upright on two occasions, one of which was perceived to be a goal.
KNUST continued their fairytale performance when they drew 1-1 with Royals.
Salisu scored on the 15th minute for KNUST, while Roger Brobbey levelled up for Royals on the stroke of full time.
Seniors maintained the lead on 18 points, while Royals are second on 13 points.
