The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has charged members of the Asante Professional Club (APC), a group of professionals and public workers whose roots are in Ashanti to take the lead and drawing up a development plan for Asanteman.
This plan, Otumfuo says could be the blue print by Asanteman to guide successive governments in drawing up plans for the region.
The development document could also force governments to align their projects to be in sync with that of the general development plan of Asanteman.
Otumfuo said these last Friday when he sat in his private office to interact with members of the APC who after undertaking a free medical screening for residents of Manhyia paid a visit to the King to brief him about their activities of the year and the decision to draw up a ten (10) year development plan to guide its activities.
‘’I charge you as professionals from Asanteman to lead development efforts of the region by using your expertise in the various fields you have studied to make Ashanti a leading light in the country’’.

Otumfuo pledged his support to the group and urged them to draw up programs and strategies that could get them international support.
The World Bank, Otumfuo said has a social intervention fund for private and organized groups, adding he could lead APC to secure funds to undertake programs they intend undertaking for the people in Asanteman.
The King noted that Manhyia is ever ready to support initiatives that would lead to the opening up of the Asanteman economy and create opportunities for its youth to get employment.
He noted serious people put their ideas in a document and was happy APC had decided to come up with ten year development plan to guide its activities.

Speaking to the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper after undertaking three events which also formed part of the group’s participation in the 20th anniversary of the reign of Otumfuo Osei Tutu as Asantehene, Vincent Manu, President of APC pledged the group’s commitment to its ten year development plan.
The plan, he noted will guide the group to draw up its programs and projects for the development of Asanteman.
APC, he disclosed has a plan of building a 650, 000 classroom block for a yet to be identified deprived school in Ashanti.
He commended its members, the various Metropolitan Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) as well as the Regional Minister for showing support to its programs and thanked Otumfuo profusely for showing the group unflinching support these four years APC was formally inaugurated.
‘’I am happy with the kind of support we are getting since our official inauguration and we are determined to stay focused and work according to our ten year development plan as well as continue with our annual medical screening, our now christened Opemsuo lectures and other social intervention projects’’, Mr Manu posited.
