The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has introduced a new application system called Operational Business Suite (OBS) to modernise and improve upon efficiency in its operations.
The new application system seeks to automate the core business activities of SSNIT which includes employee, member registration, issuance of smart cards to members, contributions data management, compliance enforcement and benefits processing.
Addressing the media, the Kumasi Area Manager of SSNIT, Mr Allandu Azu, said under the Operational Business Suite (OPS), SSNIT would map out a national biometric registration of all its members to involve scanning the 10 fingerprints of members, photograph of members and signature to make information on contributors easily accessible.
He said the system would facilitate easy and quick verification of the identities of members of the scheme, eliminate multiple registrations and minimise fraud.
Mr Azu stated that the first phase of the registration exercise would cover active members aged 54 and above, the inactive and pensioners, with the second phase concentrating on members below 50 years.
