The Ashanti Regional Minister Designate, Simon Osei-Mensah says his administration will be focused on issues of development rather partisanship.
According to him, the development of the region was far larger than the interest of one political party or grouping.
Taking his turn at the recent vetting committee sittings, the former Bosomtwe Member of Parliament reiterated his commitment to continuing projects started by the previous government, adding, ‘that is the essence of governance’.
”I am committed to continuing all projects started by the previous government and I intend to finish those projects”, the nominee stated.
PURPOSE:
According to the minister designate, the purpose of governance was to ensure development projects and programs were engineered to benefit the society.
As the head of the region, Mr Osei-Mensah noted his commitment to ensure projects that are earmarked by government for the region were equally shared to the respective Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs).
”Once am confirmed as the regional minister I will ensure projects that come to the region are shared equitably to benefit every district in the region”, the former Ecowas Parliament Member posited.
Mr Osei-Mensah also stressed his willingness to lobby his colleague ministers for more development projects for the region.
DISCRIMINATION:
Answering a question from the Asawase Member of Parliament, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, the nominee promised an open door policy and said all residents in the Ashanti Kingdom will be treated equally and fairly since all had the right to belong to any political or social grouping.
According to him, even though the Ashanti Region was the stronghold of the party none will be treated as second class residents because of their political background.
He intimated that every district or municipality within the region will be accorded same level of projects so as to spread development equitably and equally.
Mr Osei-Mensah also promised to complete the construction of the press center which was initiated by Mr Eric Opoku so as to ensure the media have a place they could sit to file their stories as well as the hosting of conferences.
