The national under-17 male soccer team, the Black Starlets are set to leave for Yaounde on Wednesday morning ahead of their 2015 African Under-17 Championship final round qualifier against Cameroon.
The Starlets, who have been in camp for the past eight months, are expected to make a quick transit in Cote d’Ivoire before connecting to Saturday’s match city.
Even at this concluding stage of the qualifiers, the Starlets haven’t as much as kicked a ball yet after twice seeing withdrawals of supposed match opponents in the preceding stages of the qualifiers on different grounds.
First round opponents Kenya were first to pull out, only to be followed suit by South Sudan in the second round of the qualifiers.
Cameroon on the other hand reached the final phase of qualifiers after defeating Burkina Faso 2-0 on aggregate.
The winner over both legs progresses to the African Youth Championship which comes off in Niger from 2nd to 6th May, 2015.
