State Protocol must answer for Asiedu Nketia’s fashion faux pas – Pratt

asiedu-nketiaCoatSocial Commentator Kwesi Pratt Junior is blaming officials of the State Protocol department for the fashion faux pas committed by the general secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress Johnson Asiedu Nketia in Germany.

According to him, the situation could have been avoided if the state protocol was diligent with its core responsibilities.

Nketia has been the butt of jokes on social media after pictures of him surfaced wearing a feminine fur coat.

He has been caricatured and mocked at in many ways following the fashion faux pas, which occurred while he was with President John Mahama and the rest of the Ghanaian entourage that went to Berlin for a two-day state visit, recently.

The NDC General Secretary has, however, shrugged off the derision of him on social media and on various radio stations. He laughed off the mockery saying: “Brain work goes on at state visits…we don’t go on state visits for fashion shows.”

But commenting the development, the managing editor of the Insight newspaper said the spectacle was an avoidable embarrassment to the country.

“We employ some people, pay them, give them resources so that they may keep public officials fully abreast with these developments so that they do not cause embarrassment.

“In fact the President cannot travel without the assistance of state Protocol so they were there and saw Asiedu Nketia dress from his hotel room all the way to the car and to the meeting with a woman’s coat and nobody said anything?

“Immediately, heads must roll at the department of state protocol,” Pratt fumed on Radio Gold’s Alhaji and Alhaji on Saturday.
