I met Stonebowy in January 2014 at Randburg in Johannesburg at Planet Radio and TV, he had a meeting with Ghanaian South African based TV Presenter Alex Crassie known in the entertainment circles as Turas Turise.
Stonebowy was in the company of Ghanaian music video maker Steve Gyamfi, who has a company; Red House, a music video and TV commercial company in South Africa.
Steve Gyamfi tells me now, that when I met them that was Stonebowy’s second visit to South Africa. A little chat with Stonebowy during my encounter with him, the humility with which he spoke, the ideas that came out when he spoke I knew he was on to greater things.
Steve tells me Stonebowy’s success in music and winning the BET award is because of his humility, hard work and partly due to that visit he made to South Africa when I met them, from that visit I gather Stonebowy signed publishing deals with a South African publishing company.
The South African publishing company which Steve did not want to disclose among other things promotes their artists songs worldwide and handles issues concerning royalties for the artiste.
In October 2014 during the launch of YFM-Kumasi I was on the stage and watched as Stonebowy performed, the energy with he performed the as the crowd cheered him on was amazing.
I am not surprised, almost a year after I met him in South Africa to hear he won Artiste of The year at The 2015 Ghana Music Awards and now The Best International Act at the 2015 BET awards.
I will not be surprised if Stonebowy wins more international awards and does collaborations with some of the big names in dancehall; He is a man on a mission.
