Ghana News–A minster of the gospel, Reverend Joshua Oppong Sarfo is unhappy that today’s parents are greatly concerned with the academic performance of their wards at the expense of their moral upbringing.
He is attributing the increasing rate of juvenile delinquency, teenage pregnancy, and the growing indiscipline among today’s youth to the failure of parents to raise their children on transformational family and religious values.
To Reverend Oppong Sarfo, higher academic pursuits without good character and quality moral training and intelligence is meaningless in today’s perverse world. He was speaking in an interview with with Richmond Antwi Boasiako on the growing moral decadence, its associated social and economic vices and the way forward for implementing pragmatic measures towards building families with strong moral and traditional values for a better Ghana on Asankrangwa based Royal FM.
Reverend Oppong Sarfo of the Evergreen Pastures, a thriving church in Kumasi, is championing the Reformation of Africa from a Christian perspective.
He is unhappy at what he described as the failure of religious bodies to raise fire brand teachers who would help instill religious and moral training in the congregants. “ Our religious systems are failing due to the low investments in discipleship and evangelism and though the pulpit is stronger than the political force, we are having church members who are inclined to non-beneficial prophetic declarations instead of biblical teachings”, he lamented.
Reverend Joshua Oppong Sarfo is admonishing religious preachers to give prominence to messages that build people into “Christlikeness” and patriotic citizenship towards strengthening family systems and national institutions. “This is one sure way to fight corruption in Ghana”, he stressed.
