Ghana’s leading telecommunications service provider; MTN has kicked off a series of activities aimed at celebrating residents of the Brong Ahafo region.
The month long Suncity Fest took off with a grand medical outreach programme on Thursday which oversaw the treatment of over 500 people suffering from a variety of conditions including hernias and fibroid.
The medical team drawn from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Tamale Regional Hospital and Sunyani Regional Hospital beside the OPD cases, also treated 45 specialized cases at the Kwatre hospital in the Sunyani West District of the Brong Ahafo region.
Commercial manager for the MTN Northern Business District; Peter Bimpeh tells rawgist.com he was touched by the reactions of 
beneficiaries some of who wept for joy after receiving surgeries and various treatments from the team of medical expects. He says MTN has always taken the health needs of Ghanaians seriously and hopes to roll out this exercise to other communities soon.
Many of the beneficiaries explained to rawgist.com that they could not afford treatment for their conditions and had hence no option but to live with their ailments. They were full of praise for MTN and appealed for more of such gestures from the Telecommunications giant.
MTN, beside the Suncity Fest celebration of the people of Brong Ahafo has declared the first 21 days of June each year as a period of volunteerism among workers of the company. During the period dubbed Y’ello Care, MTN staff engage in various humanitarian activities including teaching, tree planting, donations, refurbishments of educational and health facilities among others.
