Support Traders To Reconstruct Bluelight Market—-Justin Kodua Appeals To Government, Others.

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Justin Frimpong Kodua has appealed to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, the local representatives of government as well as private individuals to support the reconstruction efforts by traders at the burnt Bluelight Market area.

This, he said would hasten the pace of work and enable them bounce back to business rather than using any other third party or private individual to put the place in shape.

Addressing the media after touring the burnt area on Friday with some national and regional executives of the party, Lawyer Kodua said it was very disheartening seeing the extent of the devastation at the area.

“I as well as the national organiser and other regional executives accompanying me here are sad seeing this spectacle but hearing from the traders we see in them a determined people who are bent on reconstructing this place so they can continue their trading activities. So we urge the KMA to support them to do so”, Lawyer Kodua stressed.

Donation:
On behalf of the NPP, the General Secretary presented a cash donation of GHC 100,000.00 to the market leaders.

Lawyer Kodua said the donation was part of a very comprehensive plan to support the traders to recommence their business activities.

The NPP, the General Secretary added would therefore be following up with the reconstruction efforts of the traders and offer any assistance they would need.

“As a party we know you need to start all over again ad we pray that God restores unto you all that you’ve lost. Meanwhile, we will also keep an eye on the reconstruction work and offer whatever assistance you will need from us till you begin your business again”, the General Secretary assured.

Representative:
One of the leaders at the Bluelight Market who received the money thanked the NPP General Secretary for the gesture.

He noted that the traders are determined to reconstruct the place on their own.

However, he asked for more support from other political parties, individuals and organisations to enable them put the place to befitting status.

“We are grateful for this show of support from the NPP leadership as well as others including government but we ask that city authorities give us the permission to put up the place again so that we can begin business and start lives on a fresh note”, the market leaders stated.
