The ministry of health has allayed fears that the deadly ebola disease is in Ghana.
This follows test results of blood samples from the 12-year-old girl suspected to have died from the Ebola virus in Kumasi has tested negative.
News broke Sunday of the suspected flesh-eating disease at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
Doctors at the Hospital sent the blood samples of the girl to the Noguchi Research Institute at the University of Ghana for confirmation of the presence of the deadly virus.
Public Relations Officer at the Ministry of Health, Tony Goodman who confirmed the test results to rawgist.com also allayed the fears of the public and gave assurances that there are measures in place to ensure the disease does not enter the country. He also says there is a comprehensive plan to contain the disease should it find its way into the country.
Mr. Goodman says officers at all the country’s boarders have been trained on how to handle suspected cases of Ebola and adds that all hospitals at the boarders have also been asked to create isolation centres for persons exhibiting symptoms of the virus.
