SUSPEND OBIRI BOAHEN, SENKYIRE AND OTHERS—–PRO ALAN GROUP.
A group by name Ashanti Patriots Movement (APM) has served notice to the National Executive Committee of NPP that they are awaiting for the suspension of some 5 individuals who have openly declared support for the Vice-President as flag -bearer of the party in the upcoming presidential primaries in 2023.
The pro-Alan group says contrary to the code of conduct recently outdoored by the NEC and communicated to members by Buabeng Asamoa, the party’s communications director these five persons were doing otherwise.
Addressing a press conference in Kumasi on Wednesday, the group’s spokesperson, Emmnuel Gyamfi said persons who are perceived as Alan Kyerematen supporters are being served with suspension letters across the country.
However, others like Lawyer Obiri BOAHEN, Deputy General Secretary of the NPP as well as the 1st Vice of the Ashanti NPP, Kwabena Senkyire are walking free after openly endorsing the Veep as their preferred choice for flag bearer, the group indicated.
UNFAIRNESS:
The group mentioned with pain the discriminatory tactics being deployed by members of the NEC in what is happening in the party now.
It wondered why people within same party were being treated with different set of rules depending on whose side one finds him or herself.
The spokesperson noted that rules and regulations in a political party should govern same since they shared same ideological backgrounds.
“Any attempt to paint people with different brushes depending on whose side they stand makes mockery of the unity the NPP has so far claimed to have within its ranks”, the spokesperson stated.
SUSTAINED EFFORTS:
The PRO Alan group has meanwhile served notice to wage a war on persons whose actions betray the code of conduct outlined by the party recently.
This, the group believes would help sanitise the party structure since all members must be treated with same set of laws.
It stressed that no one can boast of the party’s performance in government without mentioning the excellent contribution from the Trade Minister, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen.
“Alan has not hidden his intention to run as the party’s flag bearer but was heeding to all regulations and timelines of the party before expressing same so it is gravely unfair to paint his supporters as sinners when same support and this time around one which has been openly displayed by those with leanings with the Vice President are left off the hook” Mr Gyamfi intimated.
