The President’s representative at the Tafo Municipal Assembly, Fred Obeng is alleged to have destroyed some portions of sheds being constructed at the Tafo government market.
The act, according to a source at the assembly was carried out late last Friday night by some alleged assigns close to the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).
Attempts to get the MCE to either confirm or deny the allegation leveled at him proved futile and as at the time of publishing this story, the embattled MCE had not returned the call placed to his outfit nor respond to a text message requesting his side of the issue.
The MCE is said to have expressed misgivings about the manner the stalls that was built before his nomination has been shared to the market women.
ASSEMBLYMAN:
Speaking to Assemblyman for the area on the issue, Albert Twum said the assembly got to know about the destruction of the sheds last week Friday.
According to him, there had been discussions on how to share the rest of the sheds at the Tafo market to about 45 women who had not gotten their share of the sheds.
However, he noted that the MCE earlier in a meeting at the assembly felt spaces being created in some of the left over stalls to accommodate those who had not gotten their share were too big.
‘Pusher’, as the assemblyman is famously called said the MCE noted that instead of dividing the big sheds into two the contractor should have rather divided them into four so that many people could have access to own a shed or stall.
CONFIRMATION:
Sounding evasive, ‘Pusher’ declined commenting on the person who destroyed the blocks that had been used to divide the sheds into two.
He said the act had been committed under the cover of darkness and that there was no reason or evidence to know who did that.
The assemblyman furthermore noted that the assembly members were in discussion to decide what action to take on the matter.
He also declined mentioning whether the case has been reported to the Police or not but agreed that investigations needed to be conducted into the matter so they can unravel the person behind the unfortunate destruction at the market.
