MR OSEI ASSIBEY Antwi, the Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, has charged stakeholders in the Moslem Communities to take advantage of the Zongo Development Fund to develop their various communities and to raise standards of living of the people.
According to him, the government through the Zongo Development Fund (ZDF) has designed a comprehensive programme to help develop the zongos.
He said this when he joined the Ahmadyya moslem mission to pray in the celebration of this year’s Eid-Ul-Fitr in Kumasi.
He explains that the establishment of the Zongo Development Fund will provide investment in education and training for the Zongo Communities, improve infrastructure in the Zongos, target housing, health and sanitation, and also support local businesses and social development.
He said the initiative is aimed at developing those communities in order to unleash their potentials to become centres of opportunity and prosperity.
He said the president and his government relentlessly try to deliver on their promises to the good people of Ghana, nothing could be achieved if there is no peace and harmony in the country.
He said Ghana needs to be peaceful to enable the government push its development agenda to make it a better place.
The mayor took the opportunity to appeal to all Imams and Elders in the Muslim Communities to admonish the people of the Muslim fraternity,especially the Zongo youth, to take advantage of the opportunities offered by government to develop themselves and their communities.
He called on all to support the effort of authorities to put in place efficient security for all residents. He entreated all stakeholders in the Muslim Communities to provide information to the security agencies to deal with all acts that threaten life and property in the communities.
Maulvi Abdul Hameed Tahir, the Ashanti Regional Missionary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, on his part prayed for God’s guidance to the government to enable them pursue the development of Ghana.
He entreated all Muslims to seek truth, justice and desist from falsehoods.
He urged members of the mission to stand up and protect the good image of Islam which stands for peace and harmony, adding that “Ahmadyya is the most peace loving religion”.
