Techiman based Fuji Oil Limited, a subsidiary of the Fuji Group of Companies last Thursday presented hand washing items worth GHC 50, 000.00 to the Techiman Municipal Health Directorate.
The oil company on same day donated similar items worth GHC 5, 000 to the Techiman Traditional Council.
Speaking to the media after the brief presentation ceremonies, Job Osei, Procurement Officer at Fuji Oil Ghana Ltd expressed delight at the opportunity to give to support the fight against the dreaded coronavirus disease in the area.
He noted that the gesture was in line with the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) mandate.
“As a company we are committed to doing our bit to support the community we work in and it is fitting that we do these donations to help both the directorate and the traditional council to be in readiness to battle this COVID 19 pandemic”, Mr Osei intimated.
APPRECIATION:
Receiving the items on behalf of the Techiman Health Directorate, Madam Florence Iddrisa, Municipal Health Director said the gesture was timely and commendable.
She noted that the volume of the items would enable the directorate to distribute same to health facilities in the municipality to fight the COVID-19 disease.
The Director appealed to other private as well as corporate bodies in the area to donate to help the directorate fight the viral disease.
“This is the single largest donation we have received from a private entity and we are glad that we would have the opportunity to distribute them to our outfits in the Municipality to prepare against COVID 19”, Madam Iddrisa noted.
BACKGROUND:
Fuji Oil Limited is a multi-national company with its headquarters in Japan.
It specializes in the conversion of shea butter into shea shearin, olein and latex.
The company since its establishment in Hansua-Techiman has used its CSR projects to develop the community.
Fuji oil products are mainly exported to Europe and Asia in bulk tanks.
Items presented by Fuji Oil to the health directorate consisted of 40 boxes alcohol based sanitizers, 140 rolls of tissue paper, 50 gallons of disinfectants, 50 gallons of parazone, 40 gallons of liquid soap, 100 boxes latex gloves, 25 pieces of veronica bucket stands, 25 pieces of veronica buckets and plastic bins.
Other items were 25 pieces of double soap dispensers, 2 pieces of single soap dispensers and 5 pieces of infra red thermometers.
