There is total confusion between some Traders in the Techiman Market and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Philip Oppong Amponsah over new developments in the Techiman main market.
This uproar came when the Municipal Assembly told traders who had mounted their containers in the said area to vacate the place for new stores to be built to suit the standard of a municipal market.
The MCE also known as S.P in an interview with the press said the Assembly had secured a loan to develop the area therefore the need for the traders to vacate the location temporally.
When rawgist.com visited the place traders were in groups discussing the development.
Some of the traders who spoke to rawgist.com said the notice was very short to them and they also said the Assembly has shown them where to relocate to.
The Bamuhene of the Techiman Traditional Council, Nana Appenteng Fosu Gyeabour said the Traditional Council are the custodians of the land but the Assembly had never informed them about any intended action on the particular palce in question.
Nana Apenteng Fosu Gyeabour threatened to take legal action against the Assembly if the right thing is not done at the right time.
This is the second time in weeks that the MCE has been accused of causing confusion in the Techiman Municipality.
The first was when he relocated drivers and traders at the Techiman – Sunyani Station to abuorso, a suburb of the town for pavement blocks to be installed at the station.
Some of the traders accuse the MCE of doing things in a rush without any thought of the people.
