National Youth Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Sidii Abubakari Musah has been given a 72-hour ultimatum by youth of the party to explain to them why he became ineffective during the 2016 campaign affecting the entire youth wing within the party.
The Ultimatum was issued by a group called the Aggrieved Youth of NDC in an interview with Starr FM.
“We are giving Sidii three days within which he should come out and tell the NDC youth because of his negligence, selfish interest, because of inability to explore what was given to him, he was sabotaged or rendered incapable by external and internal forces hence the inability to work to the expectation else he should keep quiet and sleep and never dare to contest any position in NDC”, they threatened
According to the leader of the group , Kwabena Eduful who is also the Communication officer of the party in Fanteakwa Constituency in the Eastern region ,Sidii’s failure to energize and mobilize the Youth wing during the 2016 polls ,contributed significantly to the heavy defeat suffered in the just ended December 7 general election.
He said never in the history of the party has the youth wing has been ineffective and less resourced during elections , blaming it on the gross display of incompetence by the National Youth Organizer making him the” worse ” in the leadership of the youth wing .
The Youth wondered why their National Youth Organizer was overshadowed by his opponent in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Sammy Awuku despite his closeness to resources to enable him work.
“Sammy Awuku overshadowed Sidii Abubakar . An opposition youth organizer who has no resources, what prevented Sidii to be sponsored by the government of the day? Sidi is nothing but a failure even the fact that John Dumelo was chosen instead of Sidi to speak at the party’s campaign launch in Cape Coast shows clearly, he was not in charge “
According to the group , Sidii has disappointed many youth in the party and will never be forgiven should he fail to provide tangible reasons to his leadership and the ‘impotency’ exhibited during the 2016 polls.
The NDC has since established a 13-member committee to investigate the cause of the party’s defeat to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2016 elections and make recommendations for reorganization of the party to recapture power in 2020.
The committee is chaired by former Minister of Finance and Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission, Professor Kwesi Botchway.
But the group says, the cause of the party’s defeat needs no probe because the reasons are already known to all and sundry.
