“They have misfired”, Yammin reacts to Observer story

yamminDeputy Ashanti regional Minister, Joseph Yammin has expressed surprise at allegations by some purported regional and National executives of the ruling NDC linking him to an ongoing law suit regarding the party.

A member of the NDC, Linus Njonolah, is in court challenging the continued stay in office of some regional executives of the party including Ashanti regional executives after their constitutionally mandated four-year tenure.

Joseph Yammin, who is also Ashanti regional Secretary of the NDC tells rawgist.com he has no motive to encourage such a law suit since he is a regional executive and stands to lose should the plaintiff win the case.

“I am enjoying my stay as an office holder within the party, why would I support someone who wants to end our tenure in office?”

The Ghanaian Observer newspaper of Monday September 8, reported that a gang of ten regional executives within the NDC were plotting to “badmouth” Mr. Yammin to the Presidency as being behind the law suit. The paper goes on to narrate that one chief reason behind the plot is that the Deputy Ashanti regional Minister is a political godfather to the plaintiff in the matter hence their firm believe that he is propelling the action.

To this end, the paper says they are planning to implicate Mr. Yammin in some illegal mining activities.

Joseph Yammin when reached for his reaction however seemed surprised and questioned what his motive would be in such a case, adding that “I was part of the meeting that took the decision to extend our stay in office, why would I turn round to fight a decision I took at a National Executive Committee meeting? They have misfired if it is true. I however hope they will show their faces so I can address them accordingly.”

He however says he wants to believe the said plot is non-existant as it defies all logic.
