Ghana Politics News-About three thousand youth in Kumasi last Saturday marched through the principal streets of the metropolis to show appreciation to the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for what they termed his ‘generous acts’ to the people of Asanteman.
Christened the ‘Thank You Nana Addo Walk’, participants led by the National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye (Nana B), Nelson Owusu Ansah, Ashanti Youth Organizer, Nana Ama Ampomah, Ashanti Regional Women Organizer as well as some MMDCEs and MPs in the region sang and walked briskly for four hours through the streets of Kumasi to show love to the President.
Starting with a little over 300 people from the precincts of the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC) through the routes of the Golden Tulip Hotel earlier on in the morning, the crowd became thicker when they reached the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) stretch.
Reaching the streets of the central business district (CBD) of Adum, about three thousand youth could be counted as they sang the praises of the President who by that time was also inspecting projects at Aframso and Beposo in the Sekyere Central District of the Ashanti Region as part of his five day tour.
NATIONAL YOUTH ORGANIZER:
Addressing a mammoth gathering later at the Jubilee Park, the party’s youth commander, Nana B commended the efforts of the president for ensuring the youth find their place in his government.
He said the likes of Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, minister of Information designate, Pius Enam Hadzide, deputy information minister, Mustapha Hamid, minister for Inner Cities and Zongo Development and many others is testament that the President believes in the youth.
Nana B charged the people of Kumasi to remain resolute behind the government as it rolls out policies that will give the youth jobs.
He said the programs such as planting for food and jobs, one district one factory and one village one dam are all intended to open up the employment space of the country so that they youth can tap into opportunities that comes from these initiatives.
MASSIVE VOTES:
Speaking to this reporter later, Nelson Owusu Ansah, the NPP Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer noted the determination of the wing to work vigorously to upscale the votes the party gets in the region.
He believes the massive road developments, the youth employment opportunities and the general conducive business atmosphere the NPP government has created will embolden the youth wing to campaign for people to vote for the President in 2020.
Nana Ama Ampomah, famously known as pretty giant, promised to tour every nook and cranny of the region to canvass for votes for Nana Addo in 2020.
She noted the President has shown the region his love by investing about 500million Ghana cedis to develop its road infrastructure, adding this requires that they also reciprocate by campaigning vigorously for his retention in 2020.
