Former Deputy Ashanti regional Minister, Joseph Yammin has urged the largest opposition party in Ghana; the NPP to “continue to tickle themselves and laugh” over the NDC’s quest to split Ashanti votes in a ratio of 50:50″ with them.
Joseph Yammin was speaking on Ultimate FM in reaction to Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo’s dismissal of the NDC’s ability to achieve 1 million votes in the Ashanti region.
He told Ultimate FM morning show host; Prince Minkah, that the fact that Nana Addo attacked an earlier target of 1 million votes was an indication he did not know what was happening in his “so called stronghold”.
The former Ashanti NDC Secretary also pointed out that Nana Addo’s new target of 80% of Ashanti votes is disgraceful as he has lowered the bar from an earlier 90% target announced by the NPP’s Ashanti regional Secretary, Sam Payne in 2012.
He believes the NPP will remain in opposition after the next elections because they are hinging their campaign on wrong messages such as “dumsor and the economy”; situations he emphasizes will be solved soon.
“The discerning voters of the region will show appreciation for the development projects they are witnessing such as the regional hospital, 500 bed military hospital, 5 district hospitals located at Tepa, Bekwai, Fomena, Agogo, Kumawu water project, Mampong water project, roads, among several other development projects that directly benefits them”. “They know every government faces challenges and in our case, the President has promised to fix them before the next elections and he is right on course”, he said.
For his part, political scientist; Muhammed Abass advised the NPP not to dismiss the NDC’s target and strategies. He says they might be taken by surprise if they don’t move to action to consolidate their gains in the region.
