The Committee set up to investigate the recurring feud between transport operators in the Kumasi Metropolis has presented its report to the Metropolitan Chief Executive of Kumasi, Mr Osei Assibey Antwi.
Set up two weeks ago, the Unified Transport Committee(UTC) comprising of all stakeholders in the transport industry were to investigate into the operations of all transport unions plying their trade in Kumasi.
It was also tasked to investigate into the multiple loading points of some of the driver unions which was causing congestion in the main Kumasi city.
Presenting the report to the Metro Chief Executive at a brief ceremony Thursday morning, Nana Kwaku Duah, head of the 9(nine)member committee said the report would address all issues that formerly caused confusion within the transport unions.

Giving details to their terms of reference, the committee chair said they were to come up with proper designations for all the transport unions.
The Committee, according to Nana Duah were to also examine the proposed new loading points being put up by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly to relocate the transport unions.
Expressing satisfaction at its work, the Chair hoped the recommendations of the committee would also go a long way to addressing unauthorized loading and trading points that are springing up across the metropolis including the one currently ongoing in the street opposite the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital(KATH).
Some traders, he mentioned had taken over the street in front of the hospital and were doing business with some commercial drivers also cashing in on the huge numbers who patronize the market to ferry them in and out.
RESPONSE:
Receiving the report, the MCE commended the committee for the comprehensive report it had put up to address the recurring transport union agitations in Kumasi.
He expressed satisfaction at the vast areas the report covered and hoped the recommendations when fully implemented would bring to a halt the frequent confusion between the transport unions.
Mr Osei Antwi expressed delight at the volume of work by the committee, revealing that sometimes the team had to walk through the rains to ascertain things for themselves.
The MCE, however, called for support from the transport unions, the media as well as the public so as to ensure that the recommendations are followed through to rid the metropolis of congestion.
