Students of the Mampong Midwifery and Health Assistants Training School in the Ashanti have been living in fear after their tutors angrily burst in on them in their various hostels and assaulting them.
The tutors were reportedly angry because the students had “embarrassed” them before the President.
Some of the students who were by the road allegedly shouted in demand of their allowances as President John Mahama passed by as part of his working visit to the Ashanti region Saturday. Some held pieces of papers asking the president to pay them their allowances which they say is long overdue.
Some of the ladies say though the president appeared to have taken their demand “coolly”, a contingent of angry teachers comprising male and female tutors burst in on the female students without considering their privacy in their hostels dishing out insults to them and threatening them. Rawgist.com learns one student was slapped by a tutor. Some items of the students were reportedly seized by the angry tutors.
Some students who spoke to rawgist.com said they were made to kneel down for about forty-five minutes and later asked to call their parents to a meeting on the matter; warning that any student who failed to summon both parents would be dismissed.
Many of the students who say they are traumatized revealed that only a few of their colleagues who reside in a particular hostel by the road were involved and did not understand why their tutors decided to maltreat them the way they did.
Though some of the students did not look too concerned with all the drama, some of the ladies had since been crying their eyes sore in fear of being expelled from the school.
No official of the Health Training institution would comment on the matter when contacted.
