Ghana Health News-Sejorosa Consult and Skidlab Ventures, two Ghanaian based medical institutions have presented medical supplies valued at 10, 000 dollars to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA).
Comprising equipment for surgery and stitches as well as hand-gloves, syringes and consumables, the team presented these supplies to the Mayor of Kumasi at a brief ceremony in the precincts of the Assembly.
Speaking to the media after the brief presentation, Vice President for Skidlab Ventures, Irene Kugbadzor said the team decided to give to KMA to support the Assembly in the area of care giving.
Having realized the government and the Assembly cannot do it alone, the two institutions decided to donate the drugs and equipment to augment what the hospitals in the metropolis have in stock, Miss Kugbadzor intimated.
‘’We realize the KMA cannot do everything by itself to cater for the needs of residents in Kumasi so as two health focused institutions we decided to be of help to the Assembly so they can cater for the health needs of inhabitants’’, the Vice-President posited.
KUMASI MAYOR:
Receiving the equipment and drugs on behalf of the KMA, Osei Assibey Antwi, Metro Chief Executive for Kumasi expressed appreciation to the team for the gesture.
He promised to ensure the medical supplies are used for the intended purposes.
The Assembly, he noted has constantly relied on such benevolent acts to cater for the myriad of needs in Kumasi.
The gesture, the Mayor hoped would generate the voluntary spirit in both private and individual outfits.
‘’I am highly impressed with this donation and am hopeful by this gesture many across the metropolis will learn and emulate same in the upcoming weeks and months’’, Mr Assibey Antwi noted.
METRO HEALTH DIRECTORATE:
Speaking on behalf of the medical director, Vida Serwaah, representative of the Kumasi Metro Health directorate welcomed the gesture.
She noted the drugs are direly needed in the hospitals and clinics across the metropolis.
With the huge population in Kumasi, Mrs Serwaah said all the medical supplies government gives out gets finished in a limited time.
She thanked the two philanthropic teams and the Mayor for extending the courtesy to the Metro Health Directorate and promised to ensure the drugs are used for the intended purposes.
