Police in the Volta region have arrested three persons at Ve-Koloenu in the Afadjato South District for possession of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
The three; 30 year-old George Agidi (also known as Doctor Aggrey), 31 year-old Adam Razak, and 17 year old Nunekpeku Isaac were arrested on 07 May, 2020 in a dawn operation championed by the Drugs Law Enforcement Unit of the Volta Regional Police Command.
The Suspects were arrested while packaging suspected cannabis into compressed slabs meant for commercial distribution. A total of eight sacks of the compressed Indian hemp and tools including seven heavy-duty car jacks and special purpose metal fabrications used in compressing the cannabis into slabs have also been seized.
The Police revealed in a statement that similar exercises will be done in other parts of the region to reduce incidents of violent crimes which are considered products of narcotics use.
“The Regional Police Command assures the general public of its commitment to deliver on its mandate and will stop at nothing to prevent and solve crime” the statement stressed.
