Waterforeveryone Donates to Schools and Clinics in Bosomtwe District

A Non-governmental Organization, Waterforeveryone has donated water to some schools and clinics in the Bosomtwe district of the Ashanti region.

The project under the initiative; safe water for schools and clinics, seeks to provide potable water to schools and clinics in the country. The target of the initiative is areas where potable water is lacking.

According to the organization, their initiative is inline with the Sustainable Development Goals’ (SDGs), goal six seeks to ensure water and sanitation for all by 2030.

More so, the Ghana Water Sector Strategic Development Plan (2014) aims to make water, sanitation and hygiene services universally for all people resident in Ghana, and to manage water resources for multiple purposes by 2025.

However currently, only 27 percent of Ghanaians have access to safe and potable water, a 2017 joint monitoring programme report has revealed.

According to the Country Director of Waterforeveryone, Mr Albert Amoh, the inspiration stems from a passion for altering the harrowing statistics of lack of clean water available to millions of people across the country, especially schools and clinics.

“Our initiative to distributive good quality filtered water to children in school and to hospitals, we believe will go a long way to help alleviate the statistics. In addition, we seek to develop an innovative model where local partners can act as multipliers for expansion of drinkable water in remote communities, promote a cheaper access to water in schools and hospitals, and improvement of water quality through new technology and solutions.”- Mr Amoh explained

A total of nine hundred and sixty bags of branded ever pure sacket water were distributed to three schools and a clinic. The Nyamiani Methodist Basic school, the Abono Roman Catholic primary and the Poano Methodist schools as well as the Nyamiani Clinic all in the Bosomtwe district of the Ashanti Region benefited from the initiative

Waterforeveryone is an NGO based in Geneva with an aims to be a productive, communicative platform where everyone can share knowledge and resources, build projects and find new partners to remedy access to safe and drinkable water for everyone.
