We have enough LPG to satisfy consumers – Marketers Association

The LPG Marketers Association has debunked reports suggesting that there is a shortage of the product on the market.

In an interview with Citi News, the association indicated that there’s enough gas to satisfy consumers despite the shutdown of Atuabo Gas for routine maintenance scheduled for Monday, August 5.

The association’s president, Gabriel Kumi, explained that all marketers have been informed about the planned shutdown of the Atuabo Gas plant, but there are alternative bulk distributors in Tema that have enough supply for the coming weeks.

“To the best of our knowledge, there is no shortage of LPG in the system. I am sure that when you go around the gas stations, you will realise that they have gas products and are serving consumers.

“What has happened is that, you know, we take about 50% of our LPG from Atuabo Gas Processing plant. We had information from our regulator that the gas processing plant is going to shut down for about two to three weeks for routine maintenance.

“So, that is going to be done beginning Monday, August 5. But speaking to the BDCs, we have more than enough stock in Tema. Now, we have over seven or eight BDCs in Tema that are stocked with LPG that the LPG marketers are lifting from,” he stated.
