Former Presidential Candidate of the Convention Peoples’ Party (CPP); Dr. Michael Abu Sakara Foster says Ghana needs “the unlimited inclusion of Ghanaians with dual nationality in every facet of our national life including all public offices”.
The Politician took to his Facebook wall minutes after the Right to information Bill was passed Tuesday night to express his sentiments.
He encouraged Ghanaians “from all walks of life” to “for once congratulate HE Nana Addo for delivering on his promise to pass the Right to Freedom of Information Bill.”
He also expressed gratitude to the speaker of parliament “for his expeditious handling of affairs in this matter”.
“I am grateful to God that I have lived to see three major issues come to fruition during this administration. First creation of new regions, Secondly resolution of Dagbon dispute and now RTI bill” he said in the post.
He says the time has come for the Representation of the People Amendment Act (ROPAA), 2006 (Act 699) to be operationalized.
ROPAA gives Ghanaians in the Diaspora the right to vote from abroad.
Dr. Abu Sakara however says its implementation should be approached with caution and adds that “a poor implementation is worse than maintaining the status quo”.
