Some student leaders led by the National Vice President of the Graduate Students’ Association, Ebenezer Henaku Jr. have threatened to “advise themselves” regarding an alleged attempt by the electoral commission to deny some students the right to register and consequently, vote in this year’s general elections.
In a press statement copied to rawgist.com, Convenor of the group; Concerned Students’ Leaders accused the Director of Elections of the NDC, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo of encouraging injustice to students by trying to prevent an extension of the deadline for the limited voters’ registration exercise.

ELLIGIBLE STUDENTS WILL NOT ALLOW OURSELVES TO BE DISENFRANCHISED
It has come to our notice that the Director of Elections of the ruling NDC is seeking to champion a call on the EC not to extend the period of registration in regards to the Limited Voters Registration exercise. This is unfortunate for a Director of Elections of a political party that seeks our vote to condone and encourage such injustice to be done to Ghanaians especially we the students who by no fault of ours but by constraints of the EC or alleged calculated attempt to disenfranchise us could not register.
A heed to Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo’s call by the EC will only signal to us that indeed the EC is not constrained but intentionally and on purpose seeks to disenfranchise eligible students.
We implore Ghanaians to note that some students queued till the lapse of the registration period and yet could not have the chance to register and so the attempt to push excuses such as attempts to register last minute as sought to be portrayed by Mr. Ofosu Ampofo does not wash.
As we patiently look forward to hear from the EC on the way forward, we also seek to say unequivocally that we will resist any attempts by anybody who so ever that seeks to disenfranchise us and deny us our rights.
We will advise ourselves on the way forward.
Thank You
Signed
Ebenezer Henaku Jnr (GRASAG, National Vice President)
