The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has pledged that his next administration will restore the licences of institutions that were wrongfully collapsed under the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.
He also vowed to launch a thorough investigation into the NPP government’s controversial Gold for Oil (G4O) programme.
Mahama criticised the NPP for what he described as unjust actions against certain financial and business institutions, leading to their collapse and causing significant economic distress.
He assured affected institutions and their stakeholders that the NDC would rectify these wrongs.
“We will restore the licences of institutions that were wrongfully collapsed by the NPP government,” Mahama declared.
He added that these actions have not only hurt businesses but have also affected the livelihoods of many Ghanaians for which reason the NDC was committed to ensuring justice and rebuilding trust in our financial sector.
In addition to addressing the issue of collapsed institutions, Mahama promised to investigate the NPP’s Gold for Oil program, which has faced criticism and allegations of mismanagement and corruption.
“We will investigate NPP’s opaque Gold for Oil programme,” Mahama stated.
