The Ashanti regional branch of the Ghana Trades Union Congress has pledged its support to the government to ensuring they deliver on the initiatives promised the Ghanaian people.
According to the regional relations officer, Mrs Cynthia Aba Anamoo the entire labour force was behind the initiatives such as the one village one dam, one village one factory policies the government has promised.
This, she said when fully implemented would not only create employment for the youth but ensure the citizenry have decent jobs.
She stressed a vibrant workforce creates a better economy, adding this should be the story of the country.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Speaking at the Kumasi Jubilee park during the May Day celebration Monday, Mrs Anamoo called on government to ensure commensurate wages were paid to the Ghanaian worker for the services they provide.
According to her, a motivated workforce is the one which builds better economies.
She, therefore, asked for better conditions of service for Ghanaian workers so as to encourage them to give off their best.
Mrs Anamoo tasked government to treat worker agitation with the swiftness it deserves.
REGIONAL MINISTER:
Responding to the workers plea, Mr Simon Osei-Mensah, the Ashanti regional minister reiterated government’s commitment to ensuring what is due workers were given to them.
He promised to treat the concerns workers at the parade had expressed with utmost seriousness.
According to him, he will not allow the demands that came up to be issues on placards but ones that needed urgent attention.
He said government was encouraged by the mandate and trust organised labour had reposed in it and will do all it can to measure up to their expectations.
