Some 300 students will be engaging each other as well as reps of NGOs, corporate bodies and other development agencies on issues bordering on development of the Upper East region coming Saturday.
The students, drawn from 7 Senior High schools in the Bolga Municipality within the Upper East region will also be guided to understand the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
These engagements will be held as part the Youth Lead Forum organized annually by the Young African Leaders Network, Ghana (YALN GH).
President of YALN-GH Emmanuel Osei (Mennel) will be launching the programme for the first time in the Northern part of Ghana. He revealed to rawgist.com’s Bernard Buach that this year’s forum takes off
on 25th November at the Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School under the theme; The role of students in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
The event is scheduled to coincide with the World Day for the elimination of Violence against women.
This year’s edition of the Youth Lead Forum which is also the first
of its kind in the Upper East Region is designed to help students understand the SDGs, know their role and how they can achieve these goals among all players for collaborative action and collective responsibility.
President Emmanuel Osei further explained that “the forum will also touch on “The role of men and boys in eliminating Gender Based Violence” (SDGs goals 3 and 10).
What is YALN-GHANA?
The Young African Leaders Network, Ghana (YALN Gh) is a networ
k of young professionals committed to developing their skills as the next generation of leaders, improving the lives of the youth in their communities through the powerful means of networking and volunteerism.
It was formed in 2015 and focuses on the pursuit of knowledge by members especially through informal interactions and peer learning and mentorship.
Members of the Network undertake humanitarian projects, support educational needs of schools and students and also reach out to disadvantaged groups with a keen focus on the youth.
