Former Deputy Ashanti regional minister, Joseph Yammin has declared what he calls “kyemu p3” for 2016 in the Ashanti region.
The former minister who addressed an electrified crowd of NDC supporters and President Mahama lovers declared that not only are they going to get a million votes for the NDC anymore, the NDC is going to split the Ashanti votes equally with the New Patriotic Party.
The Ashanti region generally known as an electoral “stronghold” of the biggest opposition party in Ghana; the New Patriotic Party.
Joseph Yammin says the President has done more for the Ashanti than several other regions and for that, many within the region are extremely grateful. He beleives the gratitude expressed during Tuesday’s march is a tip of the iceberg compared to what will be expressed in 2016.
Pro-NDC group Organised Youth of Ashanti Tuesday held a march to express their support and appreciation to the President John Mahama who has suffered several protests due to Ghana’s energy crisis. The group referred to as OYA say it’s unfair to ignore all the great achievements of President Mahama within the region and demonize him over one setback which the President has indicated his commitment to resolving.
They mention several projects including a 500 bed military hospital, 5 district hospitals at Tepa, Bekwai, Fomena, Agogo as well as a 250 bed capacity regional hospital as significant achievements towards the health of the people of Ashanti.
Other achievements so far include a Community day Senior High School at Fomusu, Kumawu water project, Mampong water project, Roads within Kumasi towns, Kumasi airport and the central market.
Joseph Yammin told rawgist.com the huge turn up to the march is an indication of support for the president from the region considered an opposition stronghold.
