Former Ashanti NDC secretary Joseph Yammin has responded to renowned Ghanaian pastor; Mensah Otabil over statements he made during a book launch asking Ghanaians to demand more of government.
Dr. Otabil is reported to have said “We can’t just be happy because a road has been tarred. We can’t just be happy that we didn’t have electricity now we have electricity. We can’t be happy with minimals”, he said, adding: “…citizens must have an appetite for better”.
The ruling NDC has not been happy with this statement just as others made by the General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC).
Former DeputyAshanti regional minister Joseph Yammin has been wondering what Pastor Otabil meant by his comments.
In an interview with Kojo Marfo on Kumasi based Metro FM, Joseph Yammin asked if it is out of place to award hardworking journalists for the simple reason that journalism was their job. He asked why Pastor Otabil will choose to make such a statement at a book launch. “Was the book about national development or did he just take advantage of the occasion to drop the comments on those there”.
“At least he seem to agree that there is development going on in the country. How can an economy that is bad be able to produce roads, schools, hospitals and other infrastructure? Mr. Yammin tells rawgist.com no amount of machinations from people who hide behind the bible to work either for or against the mahama administration will make John mahama lose the elections.
“We know how Pastor Mensah Otabil preaches when NDC is in power and how he preaches when the NPP is in power; how he preaches doom when the NDC is in power and becomes a motivational speaker when the NPP is in power”, he said.
